Paddling the Siltcoos River Trail

The Siltcoos River is Oregon's largest coastal lake. The river trail begins in Siltcoos Lake and meanders 3 miles west to the Pacific Ocean. The first 2 miles is completely protected from the wild winds of the lake and provides picturesque scenery such as coastal pines and local vegetation. The last mile of the paddle opens up to sand hills and flat beaches and potentially strong winds. Enjoy viewing wildlife such as Egrets, bear, deer, otter, snowy plover, kingfishers and even sea lions.

How do I get there?
From Central Coast Watersports located at 19th and Hwy. 101 you will travel 7 miles South on Hwy. 101. Next you will take a left onto Pacific Avenue directly to the Siltcoos Lake parking lot. There are restrooms, picnic tables, fire pits, a dock for fishing and a sandy area for children. From start to finish, it's fantastic!

What to Bring

Depending upon the time of year the Oregon Coast weather can vary greatly. You should layer your top garments so you have the ability to remove items as you begin paddling and your body core warms up. On the bottom you should wear something you don't mind getting wet, shorts, capris, or pants you can roll up. On your feet water shoes, sandals or old shoes you can get wet (bring a spare pair). Your feet will get wet getting in and out of your boat. We recommend that you bring: sunscreen, snacks and water for your trip.
